Default Frozendice.com UI

OK, so this is a personal site for myself and some of my work. I know the banner s*cks but its jsut a placeholder until I make something better.

The real question I have is the vertical menu. Whats everyone's take on it? I know its hard to read normaly but when you mouse over it, your selection turns red and the contrast makes it plain as day to read. Do I need to add a few more px between every subject to make it obvious it's a Navigation bar?

I already fussed arround with another menu (http://frozendice.com/menu.swf) for almost 2 days now and for some reason the bar never lines up. The code is simple, I just have no clue what I'm doing wrong.

Ideas on my current banner, site anything.

Click that link because the main page is just a placeholder. That shows how the page should render.

I tend to ignore things that are not obvious and would probably overlook this unless I was specifically visiting your site as a regular

I can see what you're trying to do, but personally I don't think that it works. I'd go for a more traditional menu.

Aw, crap. That was one of the key elements I wanted to try for this project. Do you not like the vertical menu at all? Or just because you can't read it?

I'm going on vacation for the next two weeks starting tomorrow so I'm going to just start writing content for the site while I'm gone with no computer access.

I'll have to leave the design as it is because I've spent wayyy to long on it already for the short term. If I spaced out the words would it be more obvious?

The font is not very readable, it's the wrong way round to read easily
