RoR sounds great to everyone ... usually because they haven't used a framework beforehand.

it's a bit "thrown together" alright, but it's quick* and effective.

* Not as quick as everyone says, but it's waay faster than PHP.... and easier to learn for lazy fecks like me

My brother is doing .net at college and is forcefeeding me it.
Personally, I'd hate to have to handcode it... but there's good software(i think it's visual studio) that makes it much easier to use.

To be honest, my biggest problem was that I took on four languages at once, and now I'm getting confused. (jscript, php, .net, RoR). Not that they're similar at all, but when I begin hand coding with php, it suddenly begins to turn into RoR. And it's only when Dreamweaver points it out to me after three or four lines, i realise.

Same with Irish, French and german to be honest. I'm really retarded in that way, yet I can programme with html, and css, and php at the same time with very few problems.

RoR is unfortunately ... not a language ... its a framework ... Ruby is a language.

People thinkg RoR is so cool... but its a framework they've been introduced to ...

You should check out code igniter ... its quite shiny thanks to Michael Flanigan for putting me onto it ...

All languages are pretty much the same .. barring some minor differences ..

In relation to the verbal for want of a better word languages ...

I'm constantly confused ... I'm using English / French constantly .. and trying to throw in a bit of Irish .. what with being Forbairt and all

... add to this trying to learn german and I'm rightly screwed

This is a really interesting website - just spent about 15 minutes on there. And while I think the colour options are too few its still very cool.

Hmmm I think you've mainly got the roygbiv colours

and you should be able to dump things into one of those categories

(yes I just remembered richard of york gave battle in vain)
