Wink What's the best e-commerce software?

Hello,

I have used Actinic E-commerce software before to create an on-line shopping based website in order to sell goods. I don't have any e-commerce software now, and definately not the coding skill to do it quickly myself. So I thought I would simply buy the Actinc software again, but - its about 375 pounds, which is quite high.

It appears this software is quite good however, but I just wanted to find-out if there are better programs, which are cheaper and still user-friendly and not over-complicated.

Any help or ideas would be great, thanks!!

Matt

Do you have much to sell ?

You could try oscommerce, this is usually in your web hosting offering under the Fantastico package.

Alternatively, there's phpshop and this has also been integrated into Mambo/Joomla as mamboshop (I think the name's correct)

I might be able to do a deal on Actinic

Smile thanks

Hi there,

right, ok - I might check out those one's you suggested - I think I'm keen on Actinic because I've used it before - I like familiarity.

I'm not sure about how many products at this stage, but I'll find-out - its for a catering supplier, but if you might be able to do a deal on Actinic, I would certainly be interested!!

Thanks for the reply

You will probably find if you want something that does not require much expertise and is easy to use you will have to pay for it.

If you looking for something that is low cost than you may then look for something that will do an online cart for you (pay a few quid a month) There are quite a few but not sure if i can mention any of them.

Then create static pages with "add to cart" buttons that post to the shopping cart site. That is about as simple and cheap as you can get.

I think the best program to put a shopping cart on is joomla or xoops. They are both content management systems if you have a lot of products.

If you don't mind paypal, I think they have such tools available. Not sure about the basket, but they do have the product purchase - but I'd imagine they would have also the basket available somewhere.
