Default Guestbooks for SEO?

I was wondering if any of you use guestbooks as part of your SEO campaign. By signing guestbooks you put your url where search engines can find it and also offer praise for other webmasters. Search Engines index guestbooks all the time as they offer unique content just like forums. I was a little amused to find I am the only person to sign the guestbook at Guestbook for Norwegian Hardwood Floors I guess that gives me top placement

Maybe it's all the popups that scares people off. I try to avoid any popups on my webpages.

Search engines also rate the quality of a link back to your site. Guestbooks are rated VERY low, because anyone can post a link with their url in it. Strange as it may seem, the guys that write search engine algorithms to rate a site thought of that one a long time ago. Same with link farms.
