Promoting Forum

I have a new forum, but iam unsure about the best way to promote it and get the name out there for people to use it. How many post would you say there should be before promoting it, obiously i dont want people to see a empty forum.

That's a chicken & egg problem

I guess you need to recruit a few people by personal invite and start building a community, then use word of mouth, then when it picks up you may then benefit from advertising it wider.

Find those interested in the topic, I suppose it's not hosting, then another idea, there's vbulleting forum where you get ideas on promoting forums, also look for something similar for phpbb, since I suppose you're using free bulletin software.
