Question Search in UK

Hello,

I would like to know which are the most important search engines and directories for you in England.

I am not talking about the American ones as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask for the search engines and Dmoz for the directories but the English own made as Mirago (search engine).

Thanks,

CHRis

If you're on a UK IP, then generally Google tends to default to the UK version of it's engine (well it does on the IP's I've used anyway) Also there's a UK version of MSN. I hear very little about other UK engines.

So, Mirago is not that active and present in England ?

And what about uk.searchengine.com ?

About directories, except the local part of Dmoz, which are important enough ?

I would guess that for most people these days "Google" and "Search" are interchangeable

Maybe you'll get a few more MSN's now the default search in IE / MSN is the MSN search.

I don't know anyone who uses those you've listed

That is pretty bad.

Those who are blacklisted by Google have no future at all for their sites !

And, (it is another question... maybe I should start a new thread ?!) when you open a new site, where do you submit your site to get the important BLs which will help you to have a correct PR and be quickly in Google ?

In France, we have a correct collection of "small" directories and search engines with a PR from 4 to 7 where we submit our sites and in a week or two if Google is lazy, a new site has everything a site need to have (BLs and PR).

That's the reality of the Google marketing machine

There are probably thousands of local directories, you'd need to "Google" to find them Many local directories here tend to be paid for inclusion type of things, often run by the same network though. One that keeps emailing me is Touch Local, they seem to have a site for each major UK town.

You neednt be blacklisted from google and any other search engine for that matter, if you have the correct layout and do not use spamming techniques to try and achieve high positions to quick. Google will allow you site back on if you use a correct layout and do not spam or use unethical SEO techniques.

Well, you needn't to be the bad evil webmaster to be blacklisted by Google.

Google uses humans to check all the sites and one of their rule say or nearly... it is better to remove a good site that to forget a bad one !

And about BMW... do not tell me that they use the correct layout or they do no spam or use unethical SEO techniques... if they come back in Google after a few days of blacklisting, it is only because Google was afraid to lose the thousand, the hundred of thousand of euros that BMW spend monthly / weekly / daily in adwords.

Everything is only a question of money.

Hi Chris,

Your absolutely right there, however here at Weblinx.biz we only use ethical techniques which are visable and all within the google guidelines. We have yet to experience any problems of being blacklisted and we have been running for a number of years. Some of the team here have been in the industry from right at the begining.
