Default Installing coppermine photo gallery

Installing coppermine

First download the files at http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/

Coppermine is 2434 kb in size, which does seem a lot, but it is worth it, this is the best image gallery software you can get. (when unzipped, it is 7500kb.)

Before you install, i would recommend that you view the comments made at the bottom of the page: http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.p...sk=view&id=189

Then you create a mySQL database and then add a user into it. Then you go to include/config.inc.php.sample and then enter the mySQL details and then you just rename it as config.inc.php in the same folder

Then you go to install.php and then you will see an error that looks like this

Quote:
The 'include' directory (located in the directory where you uploaded Coppermine) should be writable in order to save your configuration. Use your FTP program to change its mode to 777.

The 'albums' directory (located in the directory where you uploaded Coppermine) should be writable in order to allow pictures upload. Use your FTP program to change its mode to 777.

The 'userpics' directory (located in the 'albums' directory on your server) should be writable in order to allow pictures upload. Use your FTP program to change its mode to 777.

The 'edit' directory (located in the 'albums' directory on your server) should be writable in order to allow pictures upload. Use your FTP program to change its mode to 777.
Just change the modes to 777 and click "try again" at the bottom of the page.

Then you will have to enter your mySQL details again, and your username and password for the whole system. Then click "lets go!" at the bottom of the page. If you have Imagemagik installed on the system, then enter those details as well.

Then this message will come up if everything has worked:

Quote:
Coppermine is now properly configured and ready to roll.

Login using the information you provided for your admin account. Do not hit back, do not re-submit the installer form!

Your server supports the following image package(s): GD Library version 1.x (gd1), GD Library version 2.x (gd2), the installer selected 'gd2'.

Important : the GD graphic library supports only JPEG and PNG images. The script will not be able to create thumbnails for GIF images. If you want the script to create thumbnails for GIF images, you need to use ImageMagick.
Then click "lets continue" below the above quoted text and it will log you in automatically. Then you can configure Coppermine. Becareful when you edit the link called "config" as you can quite easyally have to reset the settings.
