Do banner ads still work?

I presume some of you use banner ads, either as advertisers or publishers

Do they still work? ie. do you get a return on your investment?

In my blogs, I seldom get clicks from banner ads. Though I still use them on some of my blogs because I find them look nice.

I would think that if affiliate marketing is still working...so are banner ads. Although I find them spammy...I think this opinion may be more widespread than it was.

Banner ads are good, but i prefer text ads. Some people can not make good ads and end up doing a bad job.

I think banner ads still work though it really depends on the niche of the site.

I don't think that banner ads are a really good idea. I think the best online advertising method is to post on forums.

I think it still works because Im still seeing a lot of banner ads these days and I think it actually depends on what kind of content you will put in it for it to be effective.

I used a few banner ads in the first month, and they did do better at pulling visitors in than a text ad on the same network. But none of the were converting. It just wasn't worth the money.
I'm relatively good with graphics and design too. So I'm pretty sure it wasn't poor quality.
