    Default Why?

Hey, i find this kind of confusing. I was just looking around on canaca.com, and i came accross this:

For $16.95 a month you can get 30gb space, and 600gb of bandwidth. However you can get a dedicated server with 30gb space, and 600gb of bandwidth for $69.95! How on earth could that work? I know with a dedicated server you'd have more access and stuff, but that is still an awful lot more, for absolutly no more space or bandwidth.

    Here's the two packages:

What would you rather have: a crowded and extremely laggy server or your own server that doesn't lag? (If you had the money of course)

if you get a dedicated server its yours and nobody else is on it were as if your on the others there is lots of other people which can made the server slow and lagy so thats why you get a dedicated server

If i have the money i would definitely go for the dedicated server. Like the guys said, it gives your site stability and the server's dedicated to you as well =p

Consider the hosts point of view.

They could put 200 sites on one server and generate $3000 a month, or sell you the dedicated server and they only get $70 a month. Even if they only host 10 sites on the server thats still twice as much revenue.

Remember that 95% of customers won't use more than 10% to 20% of their allocated disk space and bandwidth so the 30Gb space and 300Gb bandwidth tends to over state what they really want to sell you for that price.

Also consider that a dedicated server will generate a fair volume of tech support and there's a tendency for the customer to jump up and down a lot more when there's a hardware problems.

Personally $70 a month for a dedicated server is peanuts. Where can you buy a server for less than $1000? They'll spend $1000 and let you have the bandwidth, rack space, tech support and the server for $70! At the end of 2 years you probably want to replace the fans and even hard drives or throw the server away and start again so at that stage the $1000 hardware is worth very little to them.

Not sure hosts are that interested in supporting paypal are they?
We've never offered it, and I only get one or two customers a year asking to make payments that way.
