Default Open Source Software Alternatives?

Which open source software do you use as alternatives for commercial solutions?

Say with office applications you could use Open Office ...

What other software do you use?

Instead of Illustrator you could use InkScape

Google have sketchup as well .. which is a nice enough alternative to 3d studio max (OK obviously miles apart but still)

There there is Blender instead of 3D Studio Max / Maya ...

I'm using xPad / MAMP / KeePassX

(Actually not sure how many of these are open source and how many are freeware)

Using Komodo (which has a commercial branch as well)

Using Filezilla instead of Transit ... maybe if I ever used Transit I'd pay the 30 quid or whatever it is.

Main thing for me is keeping costs down I've got 3 machines ... 1 Mac and 2 PCs ... if I want software for all 3 ... its going to add up to 1000's ...

At the moment the only commercial software I can't live without is PhotoShop CS3. Gimp is useless for me probably cus I'm too used to PhotoShop

I use Audacity for sound editing, it runs on Linux and Mac OS X as well as, Windows by the way. I have been really amazed at how well Audacity works considering that it is free. I use Filezilla instead of Cuteftp for ftping.

For editing images for sites contents and for blog posts or just a hobby of creating an image edited masterpiece, instead of adobe photoshop you can always go for a free software and Gimp is my recommendation. Its free, just download it, install it and you're good to go.
