I vote AMD as they offer more power for design applications and graphics work, which is where most of my development time is used

I have had my laptop about 18 months now and it's running an AMD XP 2000+ and I have to honestly say that I find it more 'work-friendly' than when I use an intel. It just seems more 'interested' in what i'm doing if you know what I mean, whereas I find intel's lag a little.

Many of ebay sellers sell AMDs, i think they are defiantly cheaper and yes. work friendly. I just think because intel have been around a bit more they are more reputable.

I'm using Intel and Love it... But then again, never tried AMD so I don't have anything to compare it to. Intel is fine for me, but it depends what you use it for. Like Wistow said, it's great for "for design applications and graphics work"... It's just what you need it for.
