ripping copyrighted DVD?

I want to rip something from a copyrighted DVD for my personal use but I'm not sure if it's okay, you know, copyright laws and stuff. Anyway, I also don't know how so I plan to check out some online help and stumbled into something which says that I might need some bigger hard disk space. Should I?

If the material has a copyright, then you need to respect the terms of the license. If you don't wish to respect the license, this is at your own risk.
