Photoshop questions!

Ok, its been a while since I've used photoshop and almost a year since I had any real training in it so i've forgotten a few things.

1st. I can't remember any other way to make a layout in PS and export it into html other than slicing the thing up, which still is a behemoth of small images. I can't recall how to make it use css, etc when rendering the page.
