Default How much for a template?

    Hi,

Just an hour ago, i`ve been asked by a serious company, to build a html website template, based on their flash page version. This website template have to be ready before end of this week. I`ve been told that they current website has got around 3000 views a month. The site itself is not very complicated, but has got some small dynamic content which change depends on section. Plus one of the sites is showing content from a database ( but i`ve been told that i will be given the php script for it). This makes me think that standard html is not enough for it XD and i will have to use php. alto i think that i will recive their css.

    Code:
To recapitulate: company that makes loads of money from this website and dynamic content - different pictures, 2 lvl menu, database.

My question is: How much i should chardge for a template like that???

    thanks ! ^^

how long is a piece of string.

    1: How good are you

How much work is involved in it for you ?

You're provided the CSS ... ?? and you have to do what exactly ?

You can buy a template for 50 quid (of course its not unique but a mass produced thing that'll probably appear allover the place)

If they want a custom design ... then you start charging ...

I'd charge an hourly rate on this from the sounds of it ... probably anywhere from 5 - 10 hours ? (assuming they are providing various bits)

You're not implementing a CMS for them on this are you ?

Do they own the rights to the graphics / template so they can make derivative works from it ?

    Hi,

My task is finished already but thanks for your reply anyway. I`m new in to this business, alto i think that i`m alredy good enough to competite wit other proffesional designers.

Story of this web site is quite funny actualy ( i think ). Basicly it`s started with asking me to do HTML template, but after my detailed review on the website contect, i told my customer that HTML is not enough etc. I did it with php 4, which is generating XHTML 1, custom css alto based on their original website. No CMS. had to use js for few things as well, and iframes ( using an iframe was neccesary to satisfy my customer static link demands). In the end i had to fill the site with their content, and fill with content their other site ( based on same template ). gfx was provided by my client, altho i had to make some small reedits. and besides that , i improved text decorations, and did nice addon to printing version. executive search is "almost" xhtml valid, becouse i had to make some crazy thing with their menu, by including "div" in "a" tag. But legalsearch site is xhtml valid. you can few thise web sites at napierscott . com. original sites are made with flash. in the footer there is a link to "html" version.

to make all of this a had 5 days.

I`ve chardged my client on £500. could you tell me is it a fair price?

    thanks

Its a nice site. But graphics were supplied to you ?
So I am not really in a position to say if its a fair price or not

    (these are just comments)

Hmmm .... tables based design ? = a no no

not the best use of your tags as well (h1,h2,h3)

splash screen is a no no

no major use of meta tags ...

    author url doesn't exist ?

Hmmm would the end customer care for most of that probably not

"Hmmm .... tables based design ? = a no no " which makes me think you did not checked non flash version made by me. flash version's structure is builde on tables, not mine.

i cant post links yet, by the link to my version thats :
"napierscott . com /html/legalsearch" and the twin one "html/executivesearch/"

if you could review code of thise one ? ^^

    thanks

btw. code in flash version is horrible
