    Default ICANN and info

Does anyone know what happens if someone put false info in when they signup/change info on a domain? Are there any US laws against that?

I am about to buy a domain myself but dont' want to give out my phone number so everyone can call me. I know they probably woule never notice and I don't think theres any law against it but I just want to know.

I do know though that ICANN will take away a domain if they know its false info on it.

If you put invalid contact details, then you are in breach of policy and could loose the domain. The probability of having it removed is low as there's so many junk domains. However many junk domains are used for spam, so I guess they could start a clean up at some stage.

If you're concerned about your phone number, then visit www.monaghan.co.uk/voice and get a new number just for domain reg, you can then divert to voicemail so you're never bothered by junk calls.

    Hi

Registering with false information means they can reclaim the domain at anytime. I have over 200 domain registrations under my belt and they all have my correct, personal info and I have never received a telephone call as a result of this.

    Hope this helps

Also, you can register domains privately meaning when a whois search is done it shows nothing.
I do this with domains i register for clients on my hsoting company
    Thanks

So does this namecheap.com register these domains privately? I'm checking it out as I speak.
