Here's what happened:
I have a large 50MB mySQL database (not sure which version) message board with 10,000 members so we outgrew the shared server, Host Excellence. I contacted Aplus to purchase dedicated hosting and they also agreed to move everything, including the database. Even though they assured me that they had done this before, it is now obviously that they have not, and that they are not at all familiar with PHP or SQL. I have no idea what they did, but in the process they destroyed my database on the Host Excellence server causing it to lose some 90% of its data.
Yesterday I gave up on them and asked Host Excellence to restore the database with a direct overwirte using my most recent backup which I uploaded to their server. They did that and now all the posts, topics, page views, etc. all show up in the stats area but the actual posts do not display.
There are no error messsages and the data is there, but it is not showing up, except in the statistics. I compared the database size now with what it was before this whole disaster and it is the right size. I also opened the database and since it's not compressed I can see in plain English that all of the information is there.
